I hate the question on facebook “What’s on your mind?”
Well, honestly there’s a lot going on in my mind. Doesn’t mean I am going to tell you, numnuts.
Tonight I saw the Clash of the Titans… and I feel somewhat neutral about the movie. I love Greek Mythology, and I can honestly say that I was expecting more from the movie. It just feels like they tried to fit way too much into the movie, without really going in depth in anything. There were a lot of awesome action scenes… but I just couldn’t handle the corniness of the movie. Everything was just conveniently there when it was needed.
Talking about that….
I couldn’t help but see lots of similarities between Perseus in “The Clash of the Titans” and Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars: A New Hope.”
- Both had fathers that they hated and denied relationship to, and were demi-gods in their own sense because of their heredity. Luke’s father is the ever so famous Darth Vader, and Perseus’ father is Zeus. I have to say though… Perseus took it a lot better than Luke. At least he wasn’t bitching and moaning when he found out for sure that Zeus was his dad.
- They both had f*cking lightsabers. Yes, lightsabers. I shit you not.
- Apparently if you are a demi-god you can do all sorts of backflips and front flips in a middle of a sword fight. Not very sure about you, but I have difficulty imagining someone dressed in metal armor flipping off of walls and stuff.
- The equivalent of the Kraken in Stars Wars would most probably be the Death Star. Both weapons are f*cking big and very effective in destroying civilization. But apparently they both have shitty defenses. I mean…. shit, you would think that there would be an epic battle between the main protagonist and the destructive weapon. Maybe Luke going on a rampage and raping all those storm troopers stuck in that giant ball in space. Then maybe disabling the controls or something. That would be f*cking epic. But nooo…. one well aimed torpedo ended it. Bang! Death Star dead. Wow. Amazing. Kind of like the Kraken in Clash of the Titans. Whole movie is spent preparing for that beast. It died in like 30 seconds. Wow. Epic.
In my opinion, I feel that Sam Worthington as Perseus was not a good fit whatsoever. Looking at the guy, he was acting like a marine for most of the movie. He was a perfect fit in Avatar, which he played… you guessed it, a damn marine. Of course he changes over the course of the movie, but w/e. He played the role well in Avatar. I understand that Greek soldiers are… marinelike? But not to the extent that he did it. I feel that he never really got into the character, if you get my drift.
I have to commend his character though. He just took it when he found out Zeus was his father. Luke on the other hand cried like a wuss… and HE STILL DENIED IT!
